Hello and welcome back to my blog! For today’s topic I’m going to write about something I’ve been concerned and involved lately, and it’s about learning computer programs such as AutoCad, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Revit, and others.

First of all, I need to remind you that NO ONE IS BORN LEARNED and you need to remember this every time you plan to give up.
So here are my magical tips:

1. Be Autonomous:
Sometimes when we are learning a program, we think the best way to do it is by asking others, but the true is, this other person doesn’t know exactly where you’ve clicked so it’s very hard to know what you’ve done and how to solve mistakes.
The best way to learn is by yourself. I know it’s hard, but when you ask other to do it, you are not learning. My tip, even when it sound boring, it’s try to find out what’s going on, or what you need to do and Google it. When you Google it, no one can solve exactly your “screen”, but they give you an answer of how you could do it. Then, you will try it, practice and learn from your mistakes; and this is how you will successfully learn.
2. When asking for help…

I’m not saying asking for help is wrong, just that is better if you avoid it. If you really need to ask someone, do not let them touch your computer mouse/pad. Ask them how to do it, but do it by your own self.
Remember: Be autonomous.
3. Everyone learns in a different rate:

For people who is all the time around technology, it is going to be easier to learn than from those who are not. But, this is not a reason to give up: Learning computer programs requires LOTS of time.
Try practicing at least one or two hours every day and you will see how much you will improve in a month.
4. Watch YouTube tutorials:

In the web, you will find millions of video tutorials. After you have watched them you will see how easy the program works. A very important tip, is that you will not learn a program just from watching videos because you will forget easily what you’ve watched.
My recommendation, is to take notes and then by-yourself do exactly what the person in the tutorial did.
Remember: You learn by practicing.
5. Try to See Programs as Games:

If you actually thing about it, SketchUp is like The Sims, Photoshop is an advance Instagram, AutoCad is a life problem solver (I wish I could mirror, trim, fillet my life), etc. My point is, try not to see the program as an obligation and enjoy it! When you start to love it, you will understand how technology makes our life and work easier.
Remember: Enjoy it!
To sum up, I just gave my suggestions of what did work on me and the people I learned with. Yes, there’s no magical just practical recipe.
Hope all this tips where helpful for you. Keep practicing, and have a good weekend.
